Hans Jean Arp was a mixed-media artist known for his subscription to Dadaism and the abstract. Primarily a sculptor, Arp was awarded prestigious prizes throughout the 1900s including the Grand Prize for Sculpture at the 1954 Venice Biennale. His artistic legacy lives on in many of Europe’s famous galleries and through his Foundations, including the Foundation Arp in Clamart, the Fondazione Marguerite Arp-Hagenbach in Switzerland and Stiftung Hand Arp und Sophie Taeuber-Arp, which owns the largest collection of works by Arp and the copyright to the estate.
